FEBRUARY 2006

19th AVE PARK NEWSLETTER

website: www.19thavepark.com

Our next meeting:

Date:    Thursday, February 9, 2006

Time:    7:30 PM

Place:    Marriott Hotel (meeting room, refreshments and parking courtesy of the Marriott Hotel)

FEMA Flood Control and Funding will be the topic for our Homeowner’s meeting this month. Please join us and give us your input.

Darla Reams, Deputy Director of Public Works and Karen Riley, Management Analyst will present to our residents and residents from the Sunnybrae Neighborhood, what the City of San Mateo plans are for fixing the Flood Zone area. The City would like to place a Parcel Tax on the Ballot for us to vote on.  They will explain the different assessment packages that would fix these projects that have put our neighborhood, Sunnybrae and other neighborhoods in the flood zone. The Parcel Tax would require homeowners to pay an assessment fee and flood insurance. The assessment could range from $63 to $227 dollars a year for 20 years. This is an important subject that affects many of us in San Mateo. Come to the meeting and give us your thoughts.

Election of Officers for the year of 2006: we will be voting for residents of the 19th Ave Park Homeowners Association.

We had a good turnout for our January meeting to hear not only Mayor John Lee but also we had Vice Mayor Jack Matthews. The format gave our residents a chance to ask questions which resulted in a one to one response. Thank you to both Mayor Lee and Councilman Matthews for attending our Homeowners meeting, we will invite them back again. We had Chris Linvill presented a seminar on Eichler Windows. Our residents were able to see the different types of window coverings that are available to cover those large windows in our Eichler Homes. Give Chris a call at (650) 570-5315 if you’re interested in having her come to your home.

·          State Gets Tough On Discarding Batteries In Trash. For every Californian who throws household batteries into the family trash, here’s some bad news: You’ll soon be breaking a state law. Beginning Feb. 9, consumers won’t be able to dispose of household batteries in the comfort of their own homes. You’ll need to take them somewhere, like the hazardous waste facility or an authorized recycling center. In San Mateo, residents can drop them off at City Hall, 330- 20th Ave. There is box located in the lobby. Save those batteries and drop them off anytime. Thanks for the information Marshall Loring, Jeff Hylton and Henry Friedlander

Storage of garbage receptacles

All garbage receptacles, including the yard waste receptacles, recycle bins and regular garbage cans, must be stored out of view of the public. Storing any of your garbage containers in public view after your weekly pickup is a violation of the City’s Nuisance Ordinance, and is enforced by the Code Enforcement Division. Please be a good neighbor and put your containers away immediately after Allied Waste/BFI pickup day.

19th Ave Park Homeowner’s Membership DUES for 2006

It is time to renew your membership in 19th Ave Park for the year 2006. 19th Ave Park HOA depends on members dues to support its functions throughout the year and 19th Ave Park dues are a bargain still only $12.00 a year per household! The membership fee covers costs for printing our newsletters and incidental expenses of running the association. Residents receive monthly newsletters keeping them up to date on important events in the neighborhood and our community. We have a general meeting that is open to all our residents at the Marriott Hotel on the second Thursday of each month at 7:30 p.m.  19TH Ave Park represents all our residents whether you’re a homeowner or a renter on important issues that come before the City Council, and sponsors speakers of interest at our meetings. Please join our neighborhood association and make your voice heard! Send your checks to Ed Halbrook our Treasurer at 1767 Wolfe Drive, SM CA. 94402 or drop it off at either his home or at our President’s home on 1603 Wolfe Drive. Better yet bring it to our next homeowner’s meeting on February 9th. Become a member of your homeowners association, you can volunteer too, and we need your support as well.
