HAPPY HOLIDAYS AND A HAPPY NEW YEAR
TO ALL OF OUR 19TH AVE PARK RESIDENTS
Dear residents of 19th Ave Park,
As your president, I would like to take this opportunity to thank the following people who helped to make our Homeowners Association so successful this past year. Henry Friedlander, Vice-President. Anne Rousseau, Secretary, Ed Halbrook, Treasurer, and the following Board Members and volunteers, Cherly Hylton, Pat and Rudy Lapp, Marshall Loring, Bonnie Scott, Florence Yuen, Jeff Hylton, Claude Thomas and Dotty Sussli, for their wonderful contributions this past year. It takes time and effort to make an organization successful. I would also like to mention, Marshall Loring and Henry Friedlander, who have spent many hours at City Hall meetings, and other San Mateo events where decisions were made which have affected 19th Ave Park. Many thanks also to the staff of the Marriott Hotel for their many kindnesses during this past year. For those of you who have not been able to attend our meetings YET, they are held at the Marriott Hotel, in a lovely room, where we are supplied with the following for our meetings, chairs, tables, electronic equipment as needed and wonderful hors d’oeurves, fruits along with soft drinks, coffee and orange juice. As you may have guessed, I am trying to entice you to come to the January 12, 2006- 7:30 pm meeting!! What goes on there affects you, your family, and your home. We have 242 homes here in 19th Ave Park and we are like ONE VERY BIG FAMILY! I want to wish all 19th Ave Park residents Season Greetings and a Happy New Year.
Jeanne Burke- President 19th Ave Park HOA
Holiday Decorations in 19th Ave Park
Start checking those holiday lights and replace burned out bulbs, because it’s time for the 19th Ave Park Beautification Committee to be looking for the homes in our neighborhood with the most colorful holiday display! Proud homeowners will be given an award sign to post on their lawn for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place winners and will also receive a prize from the 19th Ave Park HOA. The Beautification Committee will be around the neighborhood on December 17th, between 7:30-8:30 PM
Good luck and Happy Holidays!
Street Sweeping and Recycling Schedule: December 2005

Recycling by BFI will be on Wednesday, December 7th and December 21st. Please recycle all your newspapers, cans, plastics, glass, and cardboard. Don’t forget your garden clippings too! Just a note to remind residents that your cans must be removed and out of sight after BFI makes its pickup!
Congratulations to Mayor Jan Epstein and Councilwoman Carole Groom on their re-election and to Brandt Grotte for being elected as the new Councilmember for the City of San Mateo!!
A BIG THANKS TO PUBLIC WORKS!
A big thanks to our City Council and Public Works Staff for their help in the paving of Eleanor Drive. As many residents know, our streets and sidewalks are in need of repairs. Our City Council and Director of Public Works, Larry Paterson, heard our concerns and came through by paving and repairing the sidewalks and street on Eleanor Drive. We want to thank Otis Chan, Gary Heap and Peter Boyle for their help with the repairs. We hope more can be done in 19th Ave Park in the near further.
For those who attended our last HOA meeting, Joe Marchi treated us to another great show. Mr. Marchi played music recordings from the 1930’s and again our residents were seen tapping their toes to the music. If you are interested in this type of Music, Mr. Joe Marchi will be presenting a 6 week series program at the San Mateo Senior Center on Fridays, January 13 – February 17th from 11:00 am - 12:00 pm. Register at the San Mateo Senior Center, 2645 Alameda de las Pulgas (650) 522-7490 Don’t miss this exciting new class.
Another program at the Senior Center: Computer Classes for seniors. If you’ve been thinking you would like to learn about computers and you are age 50 or older, these classes are for you. The classes run one day a week, for three hours, for five weeks. Contact the Senior Center at (650) 522-7490.
How do you cover Eichler windows?
At our next Homeowner’s meeting January 12, 2006, Chris Linvill, from Interior Decorator Window Treatment Designer, will hold a free seminar on solutions for those beautiful but difficult Eichler windows. All 19th Ave Park homeowners will receive a postcard in the mail with an invitation. Chris Linvill, presentation to the Eichler homeowners in the Highlands, was very well received.

Dog Walkers
Here is a reminder to some of our residents in 19th Ave Park. When walking your dog, there is a leash law in San Mateo, which requires that all dogs are to be on a leash at all times! Be a good neighbor when walking your dog, and please don’t forget to pick up the dog’s mess too.
