The $12 dollars for dues are used for the benefit of everyone in 19th Ave Park. We understand if you cannot attend the meetings but your dues could still benefit our neighborhood. We would like to start some planting projects in our Concar Park. This park is a wonderful place for all our residents to enjoy, no matter what age you may be. Early Pioneers of 19th Ave Park
We would like to have a meeting in the near future that showcases the experiences of some of the original residents of 19th Avenue Park. (circa 1955). For example, one family purchased their home by phone from the East Coast. They moved in at night along with their children only to discover that Eichler had put them into the wrong model. After the streets were finally paved and mud was no longer a problem, pre-school kids could be seen stretched out in the sun on the new pavement. Residents had to 'get in line' to get phone service - it took two weeks in 1955. Please contact Pat Lapp at 341-2028 if you are one of those early pioneers and would like to share your story.
United HOA Report-Marshall Loring, SMOKE DETECTORS
Smoke alarms are required by fire code in all residences in the City of San Mateo. The presence of a working smoke alarm doubles your chance of survival in a fire by alerting you sooner and giving you more time to escape from a fire.
The San Mateo Fire Department in partnership with The Home Depot and other benefactors from the community is sponsoring a Smoke Alarm Program. The purpose of this program is to provide free smoke alarms to those in need in our community. We are targeting the very young and seniors, as they are more likely to become victims of fires.
The San Mateo Fire Department will also install smoke alarms free of charge if you cannot install it yourself. For more information, please contact your local homeowner’s association or Captain Chris Cilia at 522-7522, extension 6386.
We will also have Captain Chris Cilia as our Speaker in June’s HOA meeting. We hope to have a good turnout for this very important information that can save your life!
The April 'Forum at Redwood City' At the April 6 Forum at Redwood City (6:00 to 7:45 PM) at the Little Fox Theater, Mr. Douglas Kolozsvari, Environmental Planner, will examine how 'free parking' almost always has associated costs and impacts on business, transit, and the environment. Doors open at 5:30, the cost is $10 per person. For more details call Dan Zack at 650-780-7363 or see http://www.redwoodcity.org/misc/morehottopics.forum.html.
