Ann Hayden from the Environmental Defense
makes a case for removing the Hetch Hetchy dam
Environmental Defense will have a representative to give us a view of the Hetch Hetchy water system. They are a national nonprofit organization representing more than 400,000 members. Environmental Defense is dedicated to protecting the environmental rights of all people, including future generations. Among these rights are clean air, clean water, healthy food and flourishing ecosystems. Point your browser to http://www.environmentaldefense.org for more details.
We will also have a speaker from the California Water Department. This is the water department that provides our water. One of the questions we will be asking is how safe is our water and does it contain chloramine?

Update by Marshall Loring:
Our last Homeowner’s meeting was great success and a good turn out of our neighbors.
The Environmental Defense’s presentation on the Hetch Hetchy Dam was very well received. Frankly, I was surprised at the amount of interest in the subject of water.
Ann Hayden did a good job of presenting the case for removing the dam. Her presentation was bolstered by the November 8 letter from Mike Chrisman, the Governor’s Secretary for Resources, which Ann handed out along with Executive summaries of their report.
There was unanimous agreement by the audience that they would like to hear the (San Francisco Public Utilities Corp.) side of the story, as well as hearing about the upgrade project, fluoridation and chloro-amine.
Look for information about this topic at a future homeowners meeting.
